BIGFOOT!

I did a quick illustration for the Eastwing news page yesterday. Everyday one of the EastwingToday is October 20th and on this day in 1967 illustrators posts an image relating to that days date. Roger Patterson and Robert Gimlin caught film footage of what they claimed was a 'Bigfoot'.

I also (finally) did a new picture book report post. Only its not finished.

Christmas & Coveting

It seems far too early to be chatting about christmas cards but nevertheless here we are! These three are my Christmas cards for this year. They'll be on sale in packs of three (one of each) in a few days. Once I get round to packing them all into cellophane. Although it is, as mentioned, perilously early for festive things I'm putting them on sale this month so that lovely folk outside the UK can get theirs ordered in time to still be able to send them out! Makes sense eh?

Today I am wishing I didn't have giant feet and I could get me a pair of these super cute wellies from aigle (ok actually if by some miracle my feet did suddenly become normal size I'd probably go out any buy something more exciting than wellies...but they'd be on my list for sure.)

I am also wishing that the UK shipping on these nice, simple watches wasn't TWICE the price of the watch itself. Thats just plain stupid (americans who want to buy me presents? i want the purple or the grey please.)

Eastwing Brochure

This is my spread from this year's Eastwing promotional brochure. Having been super unhappy with the work I submitted last minute (the result of a combination of having only just joined the agency two days before the deadline and a debilitating lack of confidence in whatever i was trying to do) I am happy to say that I'm far more satisfied with this year's efforts. The brochure for 2010/11 sees all the Eastwing illustrators take on certain dates within a month and illustrate the events on those dates. I did the Cheltenham Jazz Festival, The publication of the Great Gatsby and the great Fire and Earthquake of San Francisco.

Magda

If you're in Glasgow be sure to stop by the wonderful Welcome Home to enter their birthday raffle! I did this piece for it a couple of weeks back and if you enter it may well be yours! You can also win work by some of my favourite talented folk; Verity Keniger, Lindsay Grime, Jen Collins and Richard Sanderson!

I hadn't noticed that a load of things on my shop were in need of re-listing. I've also reduced a fair few things too, including the hand-painted wolf lady prints! Please feel free to stop by fully re-stocked shop!

Another new image for you. This one's actually a few months old. I forgot all about it (despite the damn thing taking a good two days to draw).

Got my eye on one of these ace hand-painted wooden badges by Edinburgh-based illustrator Eleni Karlorkoti

Verity's Turn Up The Colour print would brighten any room wonderfully on a dull, autumn day.

P.S I have just ONE house-hat bear left in my etsy shop.

New Work

If you head over to my flickr page you can find a few new bits and pieces from recently and no so recently (the one above being from early August). Do head over and tell me what you think! Hopefully there'll be some new prints and so on trickling onto the blog in coming weeks. Run up to Christmas and all that.

Family Tree

You can now buy my Wuthering Heights Family Tree as an A3 giclee print from my Etsy Store. You can also see the series of illustrations from which it is taken on my website. It's a bit pricier thank my other prints due to it size and resultant ink-heaviness but if you order one I'll be sure to slip in some kind of printed extra to make it worth your while!

(p.s hurray for bloggers improved image uploader. bigger blog images=happy illustrator)

Illustrated Treats

Urgh. BAD blogger. I am not so good at keeping up with things at the moment. I'm currently working my way through a big, exciting job (which I wont be able to show you for a while. Boo) as well as coming up with new things for the shop in time for christmas (what?) which you will definitely be seeing relatively soon. So whilst there's no work of my own to show you right now here's a round up of tasty illustrated treats for you to enjoy! PS there are still some drawings for sale here.

Dreamy print triptych by Elina Minn for Little Paper Planes.

I badly want this great totebag from James Brown. A girl can never have enough totes.

September!

A wee pic I did last week as a distraction from doing the work I was meant to be doing. I'm excited about Autumn and the return of hats and scarves!

A quick reminder that all etsy orders over $14 will, until September 15th, recieve a free original drawing by me. All you have to do is include a message saying 'Blog reader treat' with your order and I'll draw you something special (you can even include a specific request...within reason).

We're heading down to Dorset on thursday for End of the Road at the beautiful Larmer Tree Gardens (picture above from last years festival). The weather forecast is looking pretty pants right now (not ideal for four nights in a tent) but hopefully that won't prevent us from enjoying a few of our favourite bands. I'm crazy excited for the Mountain Goats (always wonderful), the New Pornographers, Ra Ra Riot and Wolf Parade, among many many others. The food there is great too, looking forward to my annual love-affair with the scandinavian canteen tent.

Ahoy all! There are (inexplicably and miraculously) a fair few of you blog follower folks now and I thought I'd do something to say thanks to all of you wonderful people for taking an interest in my work/rambling/general blog nonsense. SO if you're a blog reader and you purchase something from my etsy shop in the next fortnight I will send an original drawing out to you with your order! Nothing massive I'm afraid but a something I've drawn just for you! Just add include a message with your order that says 'Blog Reader Treat' and i'll add something in with your order. If you have any specific requests include them too and I'll see what I can do! Offer finishes at midnight on September 15th!

Today I like....

Ooh! Nice stuff in the Zara autumn collection. I flipping love this time of year when jackets and scarves creep gradually back into use and I can dig out my beloved thick, wooly tights. image via Black Eiffel

Beautiful animal alphabet poster from the unstoppably wonderful Rifle Paper Co. I'm dreaming of this on my studio wall. I think the elephant and the bear are my favourites.

Pretty illustrations by Becca Stadtlander.

Loch Ness

We're back from six days in the Highlands (near Loch Ness) and feeling thoroughly exhausted. This was our first real trip into Northern Scotland (despite living here for uh...a while. we don't have a car ok?) and it certainly didn't disappoint. It was wonderful to walk through the epic hills and mountains surrounding the infamous Loch Ness and then to spend the evening ploughing through our holiday reading. We even managed an unscheduled swim in small Loch hidden away in between heather covered hills (its the one at the bottom of this post). Here are some photos from our trip, its far easier to post them than scrape the barrel of my vocabulary trying to describe how beautiful it was!

You can see a couple more at my flickr

August Update

August has been chaotic to say the least. And its not over yet so sadly I probably won't be blogging in the very near future. Hopefully I'll be able to post more of the work I've been doing in the next month though (don't want to blog stuff before its printed/published/whatever). In the meantime here are a couple of images I can share. Above is a slightly pointless self portrait I did the other day whilst waiting for a response on some roughs I'd sent. And below is an image about festival essentials I did for the eastwing news page.

I have a page in the new anorak activity book which is out now and really rather splendid. Pick it up here.

We're heading North on Sunday to spend a week near Loch Ness doing very little at all. Got a stack of books ready to go and have shelved all my work for the week. A whole flipping week without so much as a thought about drawing pictures...or at least thats the plan. See you when we get back I guess!

New Prints

I have two new digital giclee prints in my shop. Above is the Bowerbird's Collection and below Summer Wolf. I hope you like them!
